Choir Director

Westminster Congregational UCC

This quarter time position will exercise all responsibility for directing the choir and assisting the Organist/Accompanist for Sunday worship plus other events throughout the entire liturgical year, with one Sunday off each month to be agreed upon in advance with the pastoral staff. Compensation DOE.

   The Choir Director will:

·        plan, schedule and direct the music for the 10:30 worship service with choir from September through Pentecost (usually in late May or early June) and in collaboration with the pastoral staff; assist in worship planning for the liturgical seasons; and lead the congregation in singing during the summer months.

·        provide weekly choir rehearsals from September through Pentecost. 

·        recruit singers and players for the choir.

·        collaborate with the pastoral staff in encouraging children and youth to provide music during worship in an age-appropriate manner.

·        oversee maintenance of all equipment, music, and supplies pertaining to music ministry in the church.

·        provide traditional liturgical music on “high holy days” (Christmas, Easter, and Pentecost).

·        research and lead one special music event (e.g. recital or concert) each year, in consultation with the pastoral staff.

·        attend monthly Music and Arts Committee meetings.

·        attend staff meetings as requested.
